Five years ago, our three founders set out to create a company to support photographers at any level with dynamic workshop experiences. After dozens of workshops with hundreds of students in locations across the globe, we have designed a new type of workshop with all the founders teaching together. We invite you to join in this unique learning experience with us as we explore exotic Bali!
Three founders. Ten Students. A tropical paradise rich with culture.
Oh… and we’ll have our own private chef!
This workshop will be like no other we have ever done. We have created a perfect combination of personalized learning and outrageously fun adventures. Every day, you will select from one or more of our founder’s activities for the next morning. Jamie might visit a community on the edges of the mangrove forest for the duration of the day, Chris might stay at the Longhouse to edit with students and Seth might visit a temple hide-away before sunrise followed by an afternoon feature hunt.
Our evenings might be spent in family-style dinner discussion, preparing for a nighttime location shoot or participating in a unique founder’s presentation in our private movie theater. The next day, a completely new set of options will be presented for you for tomorrow’s explorations.
This workshop will be flexible to what you want from your experience. Some days, we will travel together in tight-knit groups. Other days, you might spend developing personal assignments on our own, or editing pool side one-on-one with an instructor. This will be a workshop designed for adventure, photographic success, and personal skill building where we may choose to return to worthwhile locations over time to further develop in-depth reportage.
We want to share this very special experience with you. We hope you can join us for this remarkable workshop experience in one of Asia’s most vibrant and exciting islands. We tailored this workshop specifically to attend to each student on a personal level. You will be surrounded by like-minded photographers and passionate teachers so you leave with the best educational experience and strongest portfolio possible.
If you would like to discuss this trip with us, our offices can be reached at info@momentaworkshops.com or call us at +1 202 688 1448 (US) to speak to someone directly about this workshop. Or simply click here to contact us about this workshop!

We ask all photographers bring at least a digital SLR camera with 1-2 lenses. We encourage you to bring a flash and a lightweight tripod. Should you choose to participate in a multimedia project, you must come with a working knowledge of the required software programs and your equipment.
Please see our Resources section for a list of suggested gear and traveling tips.
This course is designed for people who are good natured, flexible, have a working knowledge of photography and are interested in a unique documentary photography workshop experience. We will work with each photographer to improve their photography on any level, and we will find the right theme for your vision. We will provide support every step of the way, but you need to have a positive attitude and work well with a group!
This experience is more of a photo practicum than it is a tourism trip. The educational journey will be amazing and eye opening but it is not easy. You will work long hours. Your instructors will give you daily challenges and push you to new heights with your photography. We will encourage you to stretch and think creatively.
You may encounter people or organizations that are challenging to photograph. You may have to photograph in dark rooms or outside at high noon. You may have stressful days of difficult logistics. While we will be there to help you, support you and give you insight on the best way to handle the situation as a professional, you will need to take as much responsibility for your progress as we do.
